Been here 01 - Water of Yamanokami

I have launched a new series of "diary-like" musical releases titled "Been here." In this series, I will be releasing singles about twice a month, focusing on the sounds of daily life and the landscapes I encounter on my short journeys.

In the Hara district of Ogatsu, Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, there is a small roadside shrine dedicated to the Mountain Deity (Yamanokami). Nearby, there is a natural spring that has long been cherished by the local community. Whenever I pass by, I find myself naturally pausing to collect and receive its water.
The inspiration for this piece came when I needed the sound of water for a performance back in March. I went to the spring to capture the recordings, and using those sounds, I improvised with my guitar and effects to translate the atmosphere and imagery of that place at this time of year. A short walk from there leads to the forests of Mt. Kenjo-san—a place that feels wonderful in every season.
